Pdf Summary
Urethrolysis is a surgical procedure commonly used to address post-operative complications of mid-urethral slings, which are a standard treatment for stress urinary incontinence. While most patients experience improvement, some may experience pelvic pain, dyspareunia, or persistent voiding dysfunction after the procedure. This study aimed to evaluate the functional outcomes of urethrolysis in relieving pain symptoms and voiding dysfunction and determine if age or body mass index (BMI) influenced post-operative outcomes.

The study included 67 female patients who underwent urethrolysis after experiencing pelvic pain, dyspareunia, or voiding dysfunction following mid-urethral sling placement. The patients were assessed for changes in pain perception and voiding function after the procedure. The results showed that a significant portion of patients reported improvement or complete resolution of these symptoms post-operatively. Pain perception significantly improved in 64% of patients, while voiding dysfunction improved in 68.7% of patients.

The study also found that increasing age was associated with a higher likelihood of improvement in pain perception after urethrolysis. However, BMI did not have an influence on a patient's perception of pain or voiding dysfunction post-operatively.

Overall, the findings suggest that urethrolysis is an effective treatment for pelvic pain and voiding dysfunction in patients with post-surgical complaints following mid-urethral sling placement. The study highlights the importance of considering age as a factor in predicting outcomes, while BMI does not seem to play a significant role.
