Pdf Summary
A pilot study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile application called Bwom© in educating women about pelvic floor exercises. The study aimed to assess the understandability and actionability of the app. Participants included 25 patients and 22 healthcare providers. The patients were predominantly Caucasian and aged 31-40, while the providers were mainly gynecology residents and faculty. The patients had diverse levels of education and prior knowledge about pelvic floor exercises.

The study utilized the Patient Education Material Assessment Tool (PEMAT) to measure the understandability and actionability scores of the app. The mean understandability score was 93.8% (SD=11.7), and the mean actionability score was 91.7% (SD=16.3). These scores indicate that the app provided user-friendly actions in an understandable way. The high scores emphasize the importance of including input from both patients and providers when evaluating educational tools.

Pelvic floor exercises have been proven to be effective in improving muscle strength and urinary incontinence symptoms. Bwom© was designed as a personal tool for women's intimate health, providing education on pelvic floor exercises through an interactive interface with short videos.

The study concludes that Bwom© shows promise as a mobile application for educating women about pelvic floor exercises. However, the next step is to evaluate whether the app actually helps strengthen pelvic floor muscles or alleviate urinary incontinence symptoms.

Overall, the study demonstrates the potential value of using mobile applications like Bwom© to educate women about pelvic floor health. The high PEMAT scores indicate that the app provides understandable and actionable information. This pilot study serves as an important initial step in evaluating the usefulness of Bwom©, and further research is needed to assess its impact on pelvic floor muscle strength and urinary incontinence.
