Pdf Summary
This document discusses a study comparing the perioperative outcomes of autologous bladder neck fascial slings (ABNFS) based on the site of fascial graft harvest. The study analyzed women who underwent ABNFS using the rectus fascia or fascia lata for harvest. The results showed that 78.3% of patients used rectus fascia and 21.7% used fascia lata for the procedure. Patients who underwent rectus fascial harvest were more likely to be white and have ABNFS performed by a urologist. However, there were no significant differences in operative time, length of stay, reoperation rates, adverse events, or readmission rates between the two groups. The study concluded that rectus fascia and fascia lata harvest for ABNFS have similar perioperative outcomes. This study is significant because it provides evidence for the effectiveness of ABNFS and can help guide surgical decisions regarding the choice of harvest site for autologous fascial slings. The results of this study may help improve surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. The manuscript has been accepted for publication in the FPMRS journal and the lead author can be contacted for more information.
