Pdf Summary
Pelvic floor ultrasound (PFU) is a cost-effective and non-invasive imaging technique used in urogynecology. However, many urogynecologists in the US have not incorporated PFU into their practice. This study aimed to determine the current patterns of PFU use and identify barriers to its adoption.

A survey was conducted with 122 urogynecologists, female urologists, and gynecologists who treat women with pelvic floor disorders. Of the respondents, 60% were female, 70% worked in academic institutions, and 69% had fellowship training. Only 29% had received training in PFU.

The survey found that 53% of respondents reported using or requesting PFU in their practice. However, there was variation in the patterns of PFU use among urogynecologists in the US.

The study suggests that more emphasis should be placed on PFU training and developing clear guidelines for its use. It also highlights the need to address perceived barriers to PFU adoption. The survey included questions about common indications for PFU and a list of barriers to its use, but the results of these questions were not mentioned in the summary.

In conclusion, PFU is a valuable imaging modality in urogynecology, but its adoption among urogynecologists in the US is still limited. Training and clear guidelines for PFU use are needed to promote its wider use in practice.
