Pdf Summary
The study aimed to estimate the prevalence of pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFD) among women attending Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs) in Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional study with a stratified random sample from all 13 regions across Saudi Arabia was conducted. The study involved 75 PHCCs and included non-pregnant women aged 18 years and older. The sample size was 2250 women.

The prevalence of PFDs among the participants was as follows: overactive bladder (OAB) - 53.2%, urinary incontinence (UI) - 36.3%, anal incontinence - 7.9%, pelvic organ prolapse (POP) - 23.4%, vaginal laxity - 22.1%, vaginal wind - 32.1%, and use of sanitary napkin for UI - 9.3%.

The study revealed that PFD affects a substantial proportion of women in Saudi Arabia, with a prevalence consistent with previous studies. However, OAB was found to be highly prevalent among Saudi women.

Assessing the prevalence of PFD among Saudi women is an important step in tailoring treatment plans and addressing the need for healthcare services. The study provides valuable insights into the prevalence of PFD in Saudi Arabia and highlights the importance of addressing this issue in the healthcare system.
