Pdf Summary
Standardized Letters of Evaluation (SLOEs) aim to enhance clarity and standardization in evaluations of fellowship applicants, reducing reviewers' burden and promoting a holistic review process. Applicants are required to submit three letters: two SLOEs and one traditional narrative letter. The first SLOE—Urogynecology SLOE—can be authored individually or by a group and highlights up to three notable accomplishments, procedural skills, patient care, commitment to personal growth, and includes a summary statement. The second SLOE is from the Residency Program Director (PD) or current chair if the PD has graduated, focusing on notable accomplishments, communication skills, leadership and teamwork, teaching abilities, and also contains a summary statement. The third is a flexible, traditional narrative letter from any faculty or mentor.

In addition to SLOEs, program signaling will be introduced in the 2025-2026 application cycle within the Urogynecology Residency and Fellowship Programs System (URPS). Signaling allows applicants to transparently and equitably express their interest in specific fellowship programs during application submission. This system is voluntary for both applicants and programs and operates on a single-tier basis, with each applicant allotted 10 signals to indicate their preferred programs. Overall, these changes seek to improve the match process by standardizing evaluation letters and facilitating clearer communication of applicant interest.
