Making Your SoMe ‘So You’: Getting Started With Professional Social Media (On-Demand)
Description
This webinar will provide attendees with the resources necessary to create social media profiles on Twitter and Instagram with the goal of professional networking, patient education, and dissemination of academic and scholarly work…and also to have fun and meet other AUGS members!
Learning Objectives
1. Explain why social media is an important component of controlling your online presence and building your personal brand.
2. Describe how to set-up a professional Twitter and Instagram profile and learn how to compose a tweet or Instagram post.
3. Review common concerns related to use of social media and prepare a strategy for how to combat them.
Faculty
Dr. Cassandra Kisby is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke, practicing Urogynecology. She completed her undergraduate education at Duke University, majoring in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy, Chemistry, and Spanish. She continued her training at Duke University Medical Center for both medical school and Ob/Gyn residency. Dr. Kisby completed fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Mayo Clinic Rochester in 2021. During fellowship, she also earned a Master’s in Biomedical Research and Certificate in Clinical and Translational Research. Clinically, Dr. Kisby treats women with a variety of pelvic floor disorders, including urinary leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic fistulas, and defecatory dysfunction, offering both conservative treatment plans (physical therapy and medications), as well as a variety of surgical approaches (vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery). Her clinical expertise is in congenital genitourinary disorders, meaning anatomic abnormalities of the bladder, vagina, and uterus present at birth. At Duke, Dr. Kisby is on a K12 Urologic Research (KURe) Career Development Award. Her research has focused on women’s health applications of a cell-free exosome platform. She is also involved in efforts to create a diverse and inclusive work and patient care environment, as well as equity for women in medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys exercising, the Triangle food scene, and spending time with her husband and two children.
Dr. Ian Fields is a native of El Paso, Texas. He completed his undergraduate, medical school, and residency training in Chicago, Illinois. He also worked as a molecular and cell biology researcher for five years prior to matriculating into medical school in 2009. He completed a fellowship in the Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery and received a Master of Clinical Research degree from OHSU in 2020. His research interest focuses on changes in the urinary microbiome and their association with lower urinary tract symptoms. In his spare time, Dr. Fields enjoys running, indoor cycling, singing, playing guitar and piano, and enjoying live music.
