This webinar is presented entirely in Spanish.
We are excited to extend an invitation to our Spanish speaking members to join us for a special webinar, presented in collaboration with the Latin American Association for Pelvic Floor (ALAPP). This webinar will be presented in Spanish and we welcome participation from all ALAPP members.  

The webinar will have 4 components:

  1. Dr. David Cohen will discuss the ALAPP & AUGS project 
  2. Dr. Victor Miranda will present on Sacrocolpopexy 
  3. Dr. Omar Duenas Garcia will cover transvaginal surgery and Apical suspension procedures 
  4. Q&A and Remarks
Learning Objectives
  1. Discuss the overlook of different transvaginal procedures used in different parts of Latin America
  2. At the end of the webinar the learners will learn about the different devices for apical suspension in pelvic organ prolapse
  3. At the end of the webinar the learners will be able to identify the different techniques to perform transvaginal apical procedures
  4. Describe the laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy procedure
  5. Communicate the results of this surgical procedure in a University Hospital in Chile
  6. Discuss the best surgical procedure to approach the apical prolapse   


Faculty - Dr. Omar Duenas Garcia

Dr. Omar Duenas Garcia is a Clinical Scientist that earned his medical degree from the Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla.

Dr. Duenas completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Bronx Lebanon Hospital – Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During his last year of residency, he served as administrative chief resident. Dr. Duenas then pursued a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine at Umass Memorial Center – University of Massachusetts. Where he also obtained a master’s degree in public health. Dr. Duenas also has a Master of Science in clinical translational science and a Doctoral Degree in Health Administration. 

He joined the faculty of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the WVU School of Medicine, where he treats women with different pelvic floor disorders.  He currently serves as the Director of Ultrasound of the OBGYN Department at WVU and Medical Director of Quality and Improvement for Gynecologic Surgery.

MD and Obstetrics and Gynecology,Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Clinical Fellowship in Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto.
