The AUGS annual Urogynecology: A Comprehensive Review Course is an outstanding resource for anyone preparing for boards or looking to stay current with the latest URPS advancements. This course, led by nationally renowned faculty, offers an in-depth exploration of the field, combining practical insights with evidence-based updates that can be immediately applied in both clinical and research settings and in board preparation. Designed for practicing physicians, subspecialty fellows, advanced practice providers, gynecologic surgical residents, and other learners eager to understand where the field is today and where it is headed, this innovative review course ensures a valuable and dynamic educational experience.

Learning Objectives:
  • Perform a comprehensive, evidence-based evaluation of urinary incontinence and related pelvic floor disorders, incorporating history, examination, validated questionnaires, and appropriate diagnostic testing.
  • Integrate neurourology principles and urodynamic interpretations to guide individualized, mechanism-based treatment planning.
  • Apply contemporary best practices for overactive bladder (OAB) management, including behavioral therapies, pharmacologic options, and third-line modalities such as neuromodulation and intradetrusor therapies.
  • Develop evidence-guided strategies for managing complex or refractory OAB through case-based reasoning and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Incorporate an understanding of pelvic floor anatomic variation when selecting and tailoring nonsurgical management strategies for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and urinary incontinence (UI).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of perioperative optimization, intraoperative considerations, and postoperative complication management relevant to urogynecologic procedures.
  • Identify and compare evidence-based surgical approaches for stress urinary incontinence (e.g., midurethral slings, Burch colposuspension, bulking agents) and pelvic organ prolapse (e.g., native tissue repair, mesh-augmented reconstruction, with or without hysterectomy).
  • Recognize, prevent, and manage lower urinary tract injuries and genitourinary fistulas in Urogynecologic surgery.
  • Apply current best evidence to the evaluation and management of UTIs, bladder pain syndrome, accidental bowel leakage (ABL), and female sexual dysfunction in the urogynecologic setting.
  • Describe key congenital anomalies of the lower urinary and reproductive tracts and their implications for diagnosis, counseling, and management.
  • Incorporate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to enhance patient-centered, culturally responsive care across the spectrum of pelvic floor disorders.
