A comprehensive review of the principles of surgery for genitourinary fistula with an up-to-date perspective, including the use of vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic routes of surgery.

1. Understand the surgical and non-surgical options for the treatment of genitourinary fistula and the success rates of different approaches.
2. Be able to describe the relative risks and benefits associated with each approach to genitourinary fistula repair.
3. Understand how the primary steps of genitourinary fistula repair are performed using the robotic surgical platform.

Sarah Collins MD, has been in academic practice in Urogynecology in the Chicago area since 2011. She is fellowship trained and board-certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and offers the full depth and breadth of urogynecology clinical and surgical practice with specialties in minimally invasive pelvic surgery including conventional laparoscopic and robotic surgery as well as single-port robotic surgery. She has a special interest in clinical practice efficiency, maximizing patient-centered care and shared decision-making. Her research interests include shared decision-making around treatments for pelvic floor disorders and the impact of pelvic floor disorders on physical activity and exercise. She is involved in national and international writing groups for the development of clinical guidelines and terminology documents. She is dedicated to global health and travels to Rwanda every year for an obstetric fistula mission to treat women with serious obstetrical injuries.
