AUGS FPMRS Webinar: How to Incorporate Pelvic Floor Ultrasound into your Practice (On-Demand)
Learning Objectives
This webinar is designed to show interested clinicians how to obtain optimal images of pelvic floor muscles, mesh, tapes, and anorectal disorders. Attendees will learn how to obtain useful pelvic floor images and interpret the clinical implications of alterations of the anatomy. Also, the speaker will introduce emerging techniques of “dynamic” pelvic floor ultrasound and three-dimensional ultrasound. Attendees also will observe some pre-recorded videos to optimize patient management and decision making.

Faculty
S. Abbas Shobeiri, MD, MBA is the Vice-Chair of Gynecologic Subspecialties and Professor of OB/GYN, Medical Education, and Bioengineering at INOVA.  Dr. Shobeiri obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, Medical Degree from TUFTS University, and completed his residency and fellowship at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Because of his background and experiences, Dr. Shobeiri was entrusted with establishing a state of the art urogynecology section at the University of Oklahoma in 2002.  Dr. Shobeiri is the director of the NAFC designated national center of excellence; continence care at INOVA, ICS, and IUGA research scholar program, a multidisciplinary INOVA-George Mason University Pelvic Floor Investigation Group "Ultrasound of Pelvic Floor Investigation and Therapeutics" (UPFIT). Dr. Shobeiri has been the recipient of many research and educational awards, including AUGS Best Educational Research award, APGO Excellence in Teaching award, and BJOG best reviewer award.  He has received funding from AUGS, ACOG, NICHD, and the industry. 

Dr. Shobeiri’s research interests include new robotic technologies, medical device development, and pelvic floor and ultrasound imaging.  He has been a grant reviewer for ACOG, AUGS, and American Federation for Aging Research. He is a manuscript reviewer for multiple journals.  He has authored >200 articles in scientific journals and many chapters for textbooks standard to the field of Gynecology, Urogynecology, and medical device development.  He is the editor of “Practical Pelvic Floor Ultrasonography” book, now in 2nd edition, and "The Innovation and Evolution of Medical Devices."  He has chaired annual workshops at the AUGS, ICS, IUGA, AIUM and institutions and meetings worldwide.
