Using case based patient examples experts will discuss innovations in the surgical management of SUI and pelvic organ prolapse.

1. Interact with experts to understand the various treatment options for some challenging FPMRS cases.
2. Recognize options for surgical management of challenging SUI cases.

Howard B. Goldman, MD, FACS

Dr. Goldman is a Professor on the faculty of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and an expert in quality and patient safety serving as the Institute Vice Chairman for Quality at the Glickman Urologic Institute. He has a joint appointment in the departments of urology and obstetrics and gynecology and is actively involved in the training of fellows and residents, including serving as Fellowship director for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Urology at the Cleveland Clinic. He has directly trained over 35 fellows and residents who are specialized FPMRS practitioners. Dr Goldman’s interests are in the medical and surgical treatment of urinary incontinence and other types of voiding dysfunction, neuromodulation, prolapse repair, complex reconstructive female urologic surgery and neurourology. His contributions to the literature have been prolific, including author of over 250 articles and book chapters, editor of three textbooks and panel member for a number of standardization, guidelines and best practice statement panels. Within the AUA he has been on the SUI Guidelines as well as Urodynamics guidelines committees. Within ICS he has been on the male LUTS terminology committee as well as the ICS/IUGA female prolapse terminology committee. He also led the group that came up with the ICS sacral neuromodulation best practices document.His prominent international reputation has led to invitations as visiting professor in the United States and abroad as well as numerous invited lectures. He is on the editorial board of a number of journals and is a former Assistant Editor of the Journal of Urology.



 


Michael J. Kennelly, MD, FACS

Dr. Kennelly is fellowship trained and board-certified urologist with subspecialty certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Academically, he is a Professor in the Department of Urology at Carolinas Medical Center and actively involved in the training of fellows and residents. Administratively, he is Medical Director of the Charlotte Continence Center at Carolinas Medical Center, Director of Urology at Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital, and Co-Director of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health. His interests are in the medical and surgical treatment of urinary incontinence and other types of voiding dysfunction, neuromodulation, prolapse repair, complex redo female urologic surgery, neurourology and fistula repair. He participates in numerous clinical trials and regularly serves as organizer, invited lecturer and visiting professor at local, national, and international events. Dr. Kennelly has authored or coauthored several journal articles, book chapters, and educational videos in the areas of urinary incontinence and neurourology and has lectured extensively on these topics. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of 10 professional organizations and holds several leadership positions. He is a Board of Director of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction and Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals. He is the current President of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, Past President of the American Paraplegic Society, Past President of the American Spinal Injury Association, in addition to recent Past Chairman of the Bladder Health Committee for the AUA Urology Care Foundation.





Catherine Matthews, MD

Dr. Matthews is Professor of Urology and Gynecology at Wake Forest Baptist Health and serves as the Fellowship Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and Co-Director of the Female Pelvic Health Center. She is the Course Director for the AUGS Clinical Course and is the immediate past Chair of Education for the International Urogynecology Association and the Foundation Chair of AUGS. Dr. Matthews is passionate about education and has delivered over 100 invited international and national lectures and workshops and has received numerous teaching awards. She has extensive experience in transvaginal and robotic surgery for pelvic organ prolapse repair and has been invited to perform live surgery in India, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Portugal, and South Africa. Dr. Matthews has received multiple awards for her excellence in patient care and has been an annual recipient of “Top Doctors in America” for the past 15 years. She has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in pelvic organ prolapse surgery, robotic-assisted sacrocolpopexy and fecal incontinence.
