This presentation will review what we currently know about disparities in FPMRS and provide a framework for evaluating these health disparities as well as a framework for advancing equity in FPMRS.

1. Identify and explain the current literature on racial and gender disparities in FPMRS
2. Analyze the frameworks for understanding these disparities
3. Examine strategies for applying an equity lens in FPMRS

Dr. Oluwateniola “Teni” Brown is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Northwestern University  

Dr. Brown is at the forefront of multiple diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across Northwestern Medicine. She is tje first Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern She is also the Assistant Director for Diversity and Inclusion for McGaw Medical Center, the Northwestern GME. Dr. Brown’s research interests focus on health and healthcare disparities, improving surgical outcomes for pelvic floor disorders, and the intersection of bias and racism in medicine and medical education.
